September 2016

Lots of good food at the Annual Family Picnic.
Here's what we were up to this month:

Water relay game.
On Sunday, Sept. 11, five of our families met for our Annual Family Picnic celebrating our group's birthday date of Sept. 1. JCSHG turned five this year! The weather was beautiful for our potluck picnic at the North Jefferson City Recreational Area. Everyone enjoyed fellowshipping and hanging out and our younger ones enjoyed the ever-popular water relay game. Next year our Annual Family Picnic will be held in September again, this time at Niekamp Park in St. Martins.

Bean bag toss game.
On Thursday, Sept. 15, our Science and Nature Club met at Runge Nature Center. Shannon W. led the group in an autumn-inspired activity. Club members learned about the chemicals that create the different colors in leaves. Then they collected leaves from various plants and trees and did an experiment to see which chemicals each leaf contained. Later the group took a nature walk to look for signs of fall.

On Tuesday, Sept. 27, our Quest Club held another event month at Park Day. Members earning their Dips Badge invited the entire JCSHG group to participate in a dips party. Each family made and brought one or more dips to share. Quest Club events are a great way for the members of Quest Club to share what they are learning with the entire group.
