Holiday Happenings

A puzzle with different woods.
This holiday season, several of our families took advantage of Holiday Happenings at the Runge Nature Center. The Nature Center offers educational events throughout the year and we have found them to be of very high quality. This was no exception.

Holiday Happenings were Dec. 27 to 29, with a different theme each day. Four of our families went on Dec. 28; the theme was forests. There were several displays set up featuring wood, forest animals (including a flying squirrel and a black rat snake), and trees. Crafts included making rubbings, making a cat's eye from cord and twigs, and making twig pencil. A tour of the fire tower on property was available. And there was live dulcimer music for one's listening enjoyment.

The other days' themes were fish and wildlife.
